Welcome to the dance
Meet Kaliani Joy
From the projects of Los Angeles to the privileged places of the elite, I have witnessed what we are all truly capable of.
My life has carried me through worlds that sometimes seemed impossibly far apart. Through loss and unexpected beginnings. Through places I once dreamed of seeing, and others I never imagined I would find myself. Through moments that asked me to rise, and others that taught me there is no shame in falling—as long as we remain willing to get up again.
Somewhere along the way, I learned that whenever possible, I wanted to travel through this world with the wonder of a child.
As I grew older, I began to understand that wonder wasn't something I needed to outgrow. It made my world larger. Happier. More alive.
It taught me to look beyond appearances and remain curious about the person standing in front of me. To look for compassion and greatness even when life has temporarily hidden them from view. And to recognize that possibility can appear in some very unexpected places.
Curiosity is light. Judgment is heavy.
My own journey eventually carried me onto the Camino de Santiago.
On my first day high in the mountains, I could not have known all that the road ahead would ask of me—or how profoundly walking it would deepen what life had already begun teaching me:
Sometimes we discover who we are not by knowing exactly where we're going, but by becoming willing to take the next step.
And then another.
“I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart.”
— Vincent van Gogh
I believe each of us carries within us an Inner Genie—a quiet source of wisdom, intuition, creativity and possibility.
It doesn't grant wishes.
It awakens us to what has been waiting within us all along.
For me, its language has often felt like music—the vibrational movement of joy, wonderment and daily miracles.
And always, somewhere beneath the noise of everyday life, there is an invitation:
Come dance.
Over the years, my searching has led me through many ways of understanding energy, intuition, movement and our connection to something greater than ourselves. What began as exploration gradually became a way of living: more mindfully in the presence of possibility, faith, intuition and divine guidance.
It has helped me move through pain, loss, transition and life's unexpected turns—not by pretending those experiences aren't difficult, but by remaining open to what might still be waiting to emerge from them.
My path has certainly not been a straight one.
Perhaps that is why I no longer believe a meaningful life needs to be.
There have been many adventures since the final pages of Dancing with My Inner Genie were written—more roads, more teachers, more surprises, more moments of grace, and more reasons to remain curious about what might be waiting around the next bend.
Through it all, I have come to believe that life is, in so many ways, about sharing—about giving away the bigger half whenever we can, living fully from the heart, and loving deeply with that same heart.
I am forever grateful for the innumerable miracles that have found me.
And perhaps most of all, for the possibility that something in my journey might help you recognize a little
more of the wonder, wisdom, and possibility already living within yours.
Welcome to the dance.
